Mission Trip Fundraiser!
At the beginning of our mission trip to the Amazon Jungle in Peru in 2018, we met a man named Freddie whose grandfather hand carved Bloodwood crosses. Freddie sold them to tourists as a way to earn a living there. We purchased a few and asked if he could get us 100 to take back to America. He told us his grandfather would make them and he'd meet us at the airport before we headed home.
True to his word, Freddie made it just in time to give us the crosses before we left! They still smelled of the sealer they had put on them!
We sold those 100 and when I returned to Peru in June of 2022, Freddie was able to get me 100 more!
These are handmade Peruvian Bloodwood crosses. Each cross we sell is used to help fund our next mission trips, both local and to Peru where we take Bibles, school supplies and other items to the families along the Amazon River.
Bloodwood is an exotic South American tree that continues to grow in popularity here in the states. It's dark, savory red tones, untypically, do not fade, mute or darken much over time. It is known for its “satiny,” highly-chatoyant finish.
