A Future Hope

“There is surely a future hope for you, and your hope will not be cut off.” ~Proverbs 23:18

King Solomon wrote the book of Proverbs and this chapter is divided into instructional sections. Picture his sons - imagine your father was the wisest man who ever lived - talk about pressure to perform!

Do not let your heart envy sinners,
But be zealous for the fear of the LORD all the day;
For surely there is a future hope,
And your hope will not be cut off.

But what great instruction! The ‘future hope’ is Jesus Christ and the promise of life eternal. There is prophecy here - ‘your hope will not be cut off’. Even though it looked hopeless when Jesus was crucified, God had promised that Jesus would rise again and be the Savior of the world.

This verse would be so comforting to those who ‘hid it their heart’. Even in the worst of times, knowing there is a hope that is 100% can help you endure and persevere through anything. Our human spirit, energized and fueled by the Spirit of God, is resilient and enduring. We can adapt and thrive in terrible situations. Our hope is assured and complete - Jesus Christ is that hope. That is what Easter is all about!
