A New Song
“He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear the Lord and put their trust in Him.” ~Psalm 40:3
They call this a Messianic Psalm because it was quoted in the New Testament (Hebrews 10:6-8) and becomes clear that this is about Jesus, the Messiah. David is thought to have written this following flight from his son, Absalom, but it becomes a prophetic song, revealing the mission of Jesus Christ, a celebration of resurrection and victory. The ‘new song’ is redemption & salvation - it reminds me of another verse in Hebrews 12:2
“[we keep] looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.”
What a magnificent book! The connections are truly a work of God. I saw a picture - the Bible, laying flat on the table. All the cross references were drawn in colored curves above the book - it looked like a spectacular light show. There were 63,779 arcs! Other references say there are 340,000 connections. I believe there are many many more. No human, no matter how gifted, could have designed such a thing. Cherish this volume. Hide it in your heart and no one can ever take it from you. It is alive and powerful - living words.
Jesus says, "The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life" !~John 6:63
