Access By Faith

“Through Him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God.” ~Romans 5:2

God is SO much bigger than we ever imagined. I was watching “The Good Place” and was struck by the realization that much of humanity believes that is how God works - a good and bad point system. If you have enough good points, you go to the good place. Cute show but so so WRONG! Grace is about undeserved approval and it all depends on the faithfulness of Jesus.

Romans 5 is one of my favorite chapters - it is the gospel all wrapped up in a few verses - the good news of Jesus Christ. Paul is telling us that we will someday share the glory of God because of what Jesus Christ did on the cross. He goes back to the first man Adam, who’s one sin spread to all mankind. “The wages of sin are death” (Romans 6:23). Jesus paid those wages once and for all (Hebrews 10:10) so that we might have life. Jesus ransomed us from sin - He suffered the consequences of sin for mankind. Period. When He yelled, “It is finished!” from the cross, ‘it’ meant way more than the time He hung there. The battle was won, the victory His.

1 Corinthians 15:22  “For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ shall all be made alive.”

We have LIFE and that begins the moment our faith is ignited by the Holy Spirit. Jesus did it all!
