“All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the servant of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.” ~2 Timothy 3:16-17

My husband was a contractor for years and he never EVER left the house without his tool belt. Our daughters were fascinated by the variety of things that were absolutely necessary for his job - hammer, screwdriver, measuring tape, a mysterious flat pencil, plum line, etc. He even wore it while working around our house. “Everything I need is right here”, he’d say.

Isn’t that what our verse is telling us about scripture? It is essential for us to do a job well. To do life completely and pleasing to God. The ultimate bucket list item: “And I call it good, you faithful servant you.” [Matthew 25:23]

Look at this translation of Verse 17 from the Mirror Bible, ”Being thoroughly schooled in the word of righteousness will equip you to be fully refreshed in sparkling newness of life, giving you a fresh start to tackle every relevant and good task with renewed inspiration.”

Reading, memorizing, studying, reciting scripture is important - necessary for our job of life. It is the breath of God - alive and powerful and for us! FOR US! God gave us the instruction manual, gives us the power to use it and then blesses us for doing so. WOW! It astounds me every time!
