All the Believers Were one in Heart and Mind
“All the believers were one in heart and mind. No one claimed that any of their possessions was their own, but they shared everything they had.” ~Acts 4:32
Sounds magical, doesn’t it? A group of humanity that was so like-minded that they shared everything - lodging, food, clothing, possessions, and their passion for Jesus. The scripture states that they even prayed “with one voice” and were so filled with the Spirit that “meeting place was shaken”.
The early church needed this to grow. Properties were sold and the money given to the Apostles to be used for all. Currently, wouldn’t this group would be labeled as a cult? If we tried to return to the ‘days of Acts’ , it would be out of place, for God’s wisdom enabled this golden phase to occur exactly at the perfect time in history.
But there ARE aspects that are ageless - like praying with a singular purpose, boldly spreading the Good News, a lack of competition and self-centeredness. We can do this now! The same Spirit that enabled the early church can give us the power to be of one mind, to be united and to be the true body of Christ.
“And Jesus knew their thoughts, and said to them, Every kingdom divided against itself, is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself, shall not stand.” ~Matthew 12:25
Father, bring us together by the power of Your name. Give us the desire and enable us to be one voice in both praise and petition, in thanksgiving and worship. Use us to further Your kingdom and let us be lights to those in darkness. In Your Son’s precious Name, Amen.
Have a blessed day!
