"All these things I have given willingly and with honest intent." ~1 Chronicles 29:17

“I know, my God, that You test the heart and are pleased with integrity. All these things I have given willingly and with honest intent. And now I have seen with joy how willingly Your people who are here have given to You.” ~1 Chronicles 29:17
King David is referring to the temple that his son, Solomon, would build. Literal TONS of gold, silver and bronze. The WALLS of the buildings would be covered in silver. Can you imagine the glory? The leadership started the donation and the people followed. Look what else David prayed:
“These things didn't come from me and my people. All these things come from You. We are only giving back to You things that came from You. We are only strangers traveling through this world like our ancestors. Our time on earth is like a passing shadow, and we cannot stop it. LORD our God, we gathered all these things to build Your Temple. We build it to honor Your name. But all these things have come from You. Everything belongs to You.”
The purity of his prayer, the recognition that everything we have comes from the Lord astounds me.
Father, let us be like David. Let us be radically generous, bountiful with our gifts to you. Don’t let us give grudgingly but lavishly with our whole heart mind and soul. Keep our motives pure, our intentions authentic, all in honor and praise of Your Son. Amen!
