And My God Will Meet All Your Needs

“And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of His glory in Christ” ~Philippians 4:19

God will meet all our needs. Other translations say, ‘supply everything you need’, ‘take care of all your needs’, ‘abdundantly give you all things you need’. That makes me sit down with a thud, my mouth hanging open like a cod fish, as Mary Poppins would say.

If He does that, then why on earth do we worry? Why do we make ourselves sick with concern? I’d venture to say that we are spoiled. We don’t NEED all the things we have, but we certainly want them.

The 2024 Summer Olympics are currently running and to hear the stories of what the athletes from some other countries endure is somewhat embarrassing. One brother would WALK his talented sister 2 hours each way to a gym, so she could practice. Every day. Another sold his previous medal in order to rent a place to practice his event.

The end of the verse tells us why God meets all our needs - Because of Christ. He is always the answer! When we are in tune with Him, there should be no worries. Jesus has all honor and glory and He shares that with us. [Revelation 7:12]

Father, help us to be still, to trust You for all of our needs. Remind us of Psalm 23 - a living, breathing poem about how you care for us. Thank you. Amen.
