As the Father Has Loved Me, So Have I Loved You
“As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love. If you keep my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commands and remain in His love.” ~John 15:9-10
What are the commands of Jesus? To love! That’s it! Love God with all your heart and The Golden Rule - to love your neighbor as yourself.
And He said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” ~Matthew 22: 37-39
If you love with the love of God [who continually pours His love into our hearts as per Romans 5:5] then there is no room for anything else. Try for a minute to imagine a world where loves reigns. No war, no conflict, only peace. Maybe the hippies had the right slogan, even though their M.O. was not quite what Jesus had in mind.
It’s impossible, you say. Yes, in this world, there will always be troubles. But we can start living eternally now. Our inner being can be full of joy, peace and love. The ripple effect takes over and we make a difference in our periphery. We can start to choke out the misery and evil. We cheat a little because we have God on our side for His Spirit works within us to increase that love that brings the light.
It’s exciting to picture His angels in step with us. We can make a difference in the ugliness to bring out the beauty of Jesus who resides in each one of us! “There is no fear in love; perfect love drives out all fear.” ~ 1 John 4:18a
