Psalm 31:24 “Be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart, all ye that hope in the Lord.”

We have another scripture verse written by David as he was being persecuted by Saul. There were times as he was being hunted, David would be on one side of a hill and Saul on the other, then David hid in a cave in the wilderness. We don’t know for sure when this psalm was written, but we do know that between Saul and David’s son Absalom rebelling against him, David continued to have courage in the Lord. I don’t know that I would be as unfaltering in my confidence in God that David had when he wrote today’s verse! I mean, I pray that I would!!! But David never backed down!

I think we can all relate to David at times. When the stress level is high, you’re being pulled in ten directions and you just feel like giving up.  But what David wants us to remember is that he might talk about his desperation and need of being rescued, but then he quickly turns and is praising God for his goodness and faithfulness and strength.

We can bring both our praise and our pleas to God! He wants it all, the good, the bad, the ugly, and the beautiful.  In that moment when we are going through hard times and things are bringing you down, we need to always remember that God is faithful. He will be the one to hold you up when things are bringing you down, when you feel too weak to continue.

Just because we are a child of God, doesn’t mean we have a Get out of Pain and Suffering Card. We are going to face challenges, and when we do, we need to be still, and let our heart be open to the peace of God and let it take hold of our heart. Then hold onto it as you continue going through those challenges, letting it strengthen you.
