Be Strong, Be Brave, Be Fearless
Be Strong Be Brave Be Fearless. You are never alone. Joshua 1:5
These words were spoken to Joshua as the Israelites were finally moving into their "promised land flowing with milk and honey". The original reconnaissance mission had been split between "there are giants everywhere - we're doomed" to "we got this - God will protect us". Moses, who had led them for 40 years, had just died and Joshua was to assume command.
Most would be terrified, afraid, apprehensive, but the more I learn about Joshua, the more impressed I am. I think he gets thrust into the shadow of Moses, who did indeed leave huge shoes to fill. But Joshua had been the right hand of Moses for years and years - he was there when Moses spoke face to face with God on Mt Sinai. He was there when Moses went into the tent of meeting to meet with God and stayed long after Moses left. He craved that relationship with the Father. Who does that remind us of? Joshua as a foreshadow of Jesus. Even their names are the same in Hebrew - Yeshua.
If anyone would have asked Jesus what His hobbies were, He could have answered, "talking with My Father" - that's what He did with any free time. He, like Joshua, also craved that relationship.
We can have that same confidence - that same boldness and courage - pursue a relationship with God, talk (pray), rant, share with Him as you would a friend. You will not be disappointed!
Exodus 33:11 "Thus the LORD used to speak to Moses face to face, as a man speaks to his friend. When Moses turned again into the camp, his assistant Joshua the son of Nun, a young man, would not depart from the tent."
Have a blessed day!
