Because of Him
October 31, 2022
1 Corinthians 1:30 “ It is because of Him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God—that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption.”
In the verses right before today’s verse, Paul tells the people of Corinth that when we stand before God on judgment day, all the important and high-status people who rejected Christ and called Him weak and foolish will become “Nothings” They will stop their boasting about being so smart once and for all when they realize the truth. They’ll realize that their rejection of Jesus was based on their pride and arrogance, not reason or facts.
I saw a quote once that said, I would rather live my life as if there is a God and die to find out there isn't, than live as if there isn't and to die to find out that there is.
When we as Christians get to heaven, we also will not boast about being right. We will understand that our faith is a gift from God. We will know that it is Christ who is the wisdom of God in human form. We can stand before God and say, “I’m only here because of what You did, what You have done, and what You continue to do.” We are here because of His grace and mercy.
Because of Jesus amazing grace, we are righteous, holy and redeemed.
Righteousness means the ability to stand before God and be declared free from guilt.
Holiness means that we are set apart to give glory to God because of our relationship with Him. Personal holiness is when our personal relationship with God grows, and social holiness is when we show God’s love to others.
Redemption is the gift of freedom bought at a great expense. He paid all that debt so that God requires nothing from us in order to gain salvation. The ransom was already paid.
We have a right to these blessings not because we are good, but because Jesus shed His blood and qualified us to have them. So don’t let anyone tell you that you don’t have these blessings from God. Because you do. He has promised us that.
