“Being confident of this, that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” ~Philippians 1:6

“Being confident of this, that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” ~Philippians 1:6

This verse holds a special place in my heart - my Mom would send me cards every week when I was a college freshman, closing with a verse from Philippians. Another one was verse 3, “Every time I think of you, I thank my God.” I don’t remember her other words, but God’s words have stuck with me. That’s surprising because at that time in my life, I had “more important” things to think about, or so I thought. Things like getting good grades, having fun with my friends, that cute funny boy with nice legs who would someday become my husband.

But God knew. He knew that one day I would recognize that He was guiding me and directing my journey through life. He knew that my favorite verse would be Proverbs 3:4-6 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways, acknowledge Him and He will direct your path.” He knew that I would write that verse on all communication with my daughters as they traversed their own particular way.

We are each God’s unique masterpiece and He has involvement in every moment of our lives. Even when we shove Him in the background, He is ever-present and unrelenting in His love. As Cory Asbury sings,

”Oh, it chases me down, fights 'til I'm found, leaves the ninety-nine
I couldn't earn it, and I don't deserve it, still, You give Yourself away
Oh, the overwhelming, never-ending, reckless love of God, yeah”

Thank you, God!
