Blessed Is The One
"Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, but whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on his law day and night."~Psalm 1:1-2
The first Psalm! Isn't it funny how we kind of ignore the first and last? Well, I did until I saw 'David' at Sight and Sound! The last verse of the last psalm is one of the most energetic, addictive, alluring songs of the entire show. I'll never read this again without singing it. Look it up on YouTube and you will be hooked!
Psalm 150:6 Let everything that has breath praise the LORD! Praise the LORD!
Back to the first Psalm - what wonderful bookends! This first verse of the first Psalm sets the tone for the rest of scripture - we have two choices in life - we're either with God or with the ungodly. This Psalm clearly states the wisdom of following righteousness.

Verse 3 indicates that sometimes we have to wait for "good" in our life, but the promise is there - it will come. Verse 3 "He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season".
If our roots are deep and tapped into the water of life - fruit follows, the fruit that helps others, that reflects the goodness of God, the forgiving love of Jesus Christ.
David loved the Lord with all his heart, soul and mind, evidenced in the wording of his beautiful psalms - I think we are meant to hear them as music, praising God with our whole being.
Have a blessed day!
