“But Christ is faithful as the Son over God’s house. And we are His house, if indeed we hold firmly to our confidence and the hope in which we glory.” ~Hebrews 3:6

Belonging to a house of something is a big deal. The members define the personality, values, mission statement and end goal of the entity. Harry Potter fans would understand this - where you were assigned indicated what you were made of and your basic approach to life, similar to College Greek life. Birds of a feather truly do stick together.

THANKFULLY, God works in reverse. The House of God defines US. Our old labels are washed off and we wear the new creation in Christ.

“You have put off the old self with its practices and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge after the image of its creator.” ~Colossians 3:9b-10

“Let the Spirit change your way of thinking and make you into a new person. You were created to be like God” ~Ephesians 4:23-24a

“Don't be like the people of this world, but let God change the way you think. Then you will know how to do everything that is good and pleasing to Him.” ~Romans 12:2

We don’t need the colors or symbols of the house to proclaim where we belong - our lives should SHOUT that we are the House of the Son of the Living God. We should instinctively know each other as we represent Him. No one should be undercover - at least in the free world. At this point in history, we don’t have to trace the symbol of the fish in the sand, like Christians did in the first century to indicate membership as followers of Christ. Our house is built on love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, faithfulness and self-control. The greatest of these is love [1 Corinthians 13:13].

‘Love is the real God-likeness of man for which he has been created. In so far as love is in man he really resembles God and shows himself to be the child of God.’ ~Emil Brunner
