By Wisdom a House is Built - Proverbs 24:3-4

“By wisdom a house is built, and through understanding it is established; through knowledge its rooms are filled with rare and beautiful treasures.” ~Proverbs 24:3-4
My husband built our house. We designed together, but his wise expertise dictated all the steps in a specified order to create a dwelling that was solid and secure (as we so often comforted hysterical daughters in a midst of violent storms). He understood what it took to accomplish this. Then it was my turn to decorate and ‘fill the rooms with rare and beautiful treasures’. I don’t know how rare they are, but they are treasures to me - antiques from my great great aunt and our grandparents, china too delicate to use, but it sure looks great in the hutch. Unique items from around the world from his aunt and uncle. Cherished artwork. It’s home.
I think that Solomon is using metaphors to describe our bodies as a spiritual house. The rare and beautiful treasures are God’s word stored in our hearts. .
“Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.”~1 Corinthians 6:19-20
"The lamp of the body is the eye. If therefore your eye is sound, your whole body will be full of light.” ~Matthew 6:22
How do we ensure this? Psalm 119 gives us the answer in verse 11: “I have stored up Your word in my heart, that I might not sin against You.”
