Come To Me All Who Are Weary

"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest." Matthew 11:28
"Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest."
~Matthew 11:28

As an adult, this is one of the first Bible verses I memorized on purpose - It was also one of those that I had heard so many times that they were just words. It started when I had heard a verse from Psalm 119 and it hit me hard: "I have hidden Your Word in my heart, that I might not sin against You." About the same time, I was reading a book by Richard Wurmbrand, "Tortured for Christ". God used those two things to impress the importance for knowing scripture - not just the vague idea, but learning 'every jot and tittle'. I started going thru the Bible and picking verses here and there, writing them on those blank pages at the back of the Bible (I always wondered what they were for) and committing them to memory as I went.

This verse from Matthew is profound. Every one of us gets overwhelmed and weighed down by life. Jesus says, "'Comere'. I am an oasis from the chaos. You can lean on Me - I will be your strength". Even reading that verse out loud brings peace. Talk to Him. Listen for His voice. Let His peace rain on you and flood your soul. Trade your burden for His light load. Be still in His presence and you will truly find rest.
Have a blessed day!
