“Do it all for the glory of God” ~1 Corinthians 10:31b

“Do it all for the glory of God” ~1 Corinthians 10:31b

My heart starts to sing this old time hymn by Fanny Crosby:

To God be the glory, great things He hath done,
So loved He the world that He gave us His Son,
Who yielded His life our redemption to win,
And opened the life-gate that all may go in.

Praise the Lord, praise the Lord,
  Let the earth hear His voice;
Praise the Lord, praise the Lord,
  Let the people rejoice;
Oh, come to the Father, through Jesus the Son,
  And give Him the glory; great things He hath done.

I once heard a pastor say, “You can’t give God what you don't have”, implying that we don’t have glory (yet) so how can we give God glory? BUT, we are IN Christ Jesus. We share His glory. He calls us sons and daughters. We share a participation in the divine nature of God! Hard to fathom! It’s a process, but continual and progressive and according to God, a done deal!

“His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us to His own glory and excellence, by which He has granted to us His precious and very great promises, so that through them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world because of sinful desire.” ~2 Peter 1:3-4

“And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit.” ~2 Corinthians 3:18
