Do Not Be Afraid of What Is Hidden

Matthew 10:26 - “So do not be afraid of them, for there is nothing concealed that will not be disclosed, or hidden that will not be made known.”

This scripture is in the middle of the passage that talks about how Jesus sent out His disciples and gave them the authority to drive out spirits and heal every disease and sickness.  He was warning them though that he was sending them among wolves and that there would be many dangers as well as lots of hatred and rejection because of what they would be teaching.  But, He tells them not to be afraid of anyone who may persecute them.

Fear is a powerful emotion! There’s fear of pain, rejection, loss, fear of being bullied and so many others.  Fear can overwhelm us and even paralyze us at times, which distracts and even can prevent us from being what God called us to be and what God wants us to do. So He says the words above to encourage us.

There will be times when you share the gospel with someone and they don’t quite get it, or they misunderstand what you are trying to say and lash out at you.  If you are treated poorly or misunderstood, you should respond back with love, rather than impatience or anger.

Jesus tells us that nothing is concealed, and even if someone has some kind of agenda to hurt you or hinder your goals in spreading the Word of God, Jesus tells us that the hidden will be made known, those plots will be revealed.

He is telling us not to be afraid to share the Gospel, but He is warning us that we may be persecuted, or rejected because of Him. But, He sees what is happening and what you are doing, and he also sees and knows what the ones rejecting Him are doing.  There aren’t any secrets with God.  You can’t hide your sins. What is covered will be uncovered. What is hidden will be made known.
