Even in Darkness

“Even in darkness light dawns for the upright, for those who are gracious and compassionate and righteous.” ~Psalm 112:4

We all know people who are glass half-empty-ers, the ‘Eyeores’, the gloom-and-doom-ers. But sometimes they are justified - the world swirls with controversy and conflict. Warnings seems very real and close to home. Uncertainty threatens to stifle the joys of life. Darkness overwhelms.

But we have God’s promise. Even in this darkness, there is hope. There is light dawning and lifted eyes will see it! “I lift up my eyes toward the mountains—from where will my help come? My help is from the LORD, maker of heaven and earth. He will never let your foot slip, nor will your guardian become drowsy.” ~Psalm 121:1-3

Those burdened with current events look down. The weight of the world bends them over. “Turn your burdens over to the LORD, and he will take care of you. He will never let the righteous person stumble.” ~Psalm 55:22

Jesus said, “Come to Me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world. It is the LORD who goes before you. I will be with you; I will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.”

This encouragement enables us to say, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Philippians 4:13 Having that hope in our stream of conscience makes us more like Christ, giving us the ability to BE love, bringing joy and peace to those around us, to be patient and kind and gentle with self-control in difficult circumstances, all because of the faithfulness of Jesus Christ.

“I say to the LORD, “You are my Lord; I have no good apart from you.” ~Psalm 16:2
