Faith Beats Fear
I love picture of lions! They are majestic and regal. If they were guarding your house, you would sleep well. What about a picture of a lamb? There is nothing that instills a sense of safety there. A lamb is about as helpless as you can get.
When the apostle John wrote the book of Revelation, God told him, "Turn around and see the Lion of Judah!" John turns and see a slaughtered lamb.
Think of his shock. We are used to hearing about the lion and the lamb, but this was new to the first century believers. They were just learning that Jesus was the promised Messiah, the Lion of the Tribe of Judah, foretold since the time of Jacob. He was also the Passover lamb, celebrated from the night before the exodus from Egypt. Unblemished, without sin. Legs not broken, prophecy fulfilled on the Cross.
That Lamb conquered death. Wait a minute, lions kill, lambs are killed. Yes, Jesus was both the sacrificer and the sacrifice. The offerer and the offering. The lion and the lamb. Faith conquers fear. We have THE Lion and THE Lamb guarding our house, our hearts and minds. There is no better place to be.
Have a blessed day
