For the Lord Gives Wisdom

“For the Lord gives wisdom; from His mouth come knowledge and understanding.” ~Proverbs 2:6

If you were offered a boatload of precious silver, free of charge, would you take it? No-brainer for sure. Unlimited wealth. Showered with riches. Would ensure a worry-free life, wouldn’t it? Well…

King Solomon experienced this excess - God blessed him with the ‘Midas Touch’. A listing of his possessions was almost endless - he couldn’t fail if he tried. In a nutshell, wealth had became a cold and bitter mistress and he learned that only God could satisfy and fulfill. Wisdom granted by God made him legendary and he passed it on - the book of proverbs was a gift, sound advice for his son, as well as all of humanity!

Here are the first part of chapter 2:

“My son, pay attention to what I say. Remember my commands. Listen to wisdom, and do your best to understand. Ask for good judgment. Yes, beg for knowledge; plead for insight. Look for it as hard as you would for silver or some hidden treasure. If you do this, you will understand what it means to respect the LORD, and you will come to know God. The LORD is the source of wisdom; knowledge and understanding come from His mouth… You will become wise, and your knowledge will give you pleasure. Your insight and understanding will protect you and prevent you from doing the wrong thing.”

Jesus Christ is the personification of Wisdom, the living Word by Whom the universe was created and is sustained. His Spirit is our guide. How can it be that we are in Him and He in us? It’s more than we can think or imagine!

“Now unto Him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, unto Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus unto all generations for ever and ever. Amen.” ~Ephesians 3:20-21
