From far away, the LORD will appear to his people
“From far away, the LORD will appear to his people. The Lord says, "I love you people with a love that continues forever. That is why I have continued showing you kindness.” ~Jeremiah 31:3
Chapter 31 could be titled, “The All-Encompassing Love of God”. It speaks of restoration, reconciliation and renewal. No matter what Israel has done, no matter how many times they have abandoned God for false gods, prostituted themselves to other nations, God says, “I will ALWAYS love you. I will make you a virgin again. You will be the pure and spotless bride of the coming Messiah.”
Guess what? Israel is the example for humanity as a whole. In verse 31, God says, “I will make a new covenant with them”. That sounds familiar, doesn’t it. Fast forward to the time with Jesus walked the earth: “This cup that is poured out for you is the new covenant in my blood.”[Luke 22:20b]
God purifies us in His love outside of time. All things are present to God, so He cannot stop loving us. Everlasting is lasting forever.
Thank you, God for holding us tightly when we fight to get away. Thank you for your unfailing love! Amen
