“Give, and it will be given to you." ~Luke 6:38

“Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.” ~Luke 6:38
We tend to think that this is how God works - like we’re on a point system. “If I do 6 good things this week, God will add that to my life’s tally. Any bad things subtract. If my good outweighs the bad, then I get to go to heaven” - Reminds me of the show “The Good Place”.
THANK YOU, GOD that You are not like that! Jesus was teaching His followers how to live in THIS life peacefully with other humans, in particular the Roman soldiers who were the Big Brother of the time.
God is full of endless good. “He causes His sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.” ~Matthew 5:45
When difficulties arise in our lives, they are often a result of our own foolishness, not God ‘punishing’ us. He uses those challenges to draw us to Him, to strengthen our character and increase our longing to be with Him.
Father, we are so grateful that You are not like us. You are perfect. Mold us and make us like You. Let us increasingly shine Your light in this dark world as we reflect Your Son. You made us in Your image - let that fruit be visible and impactful. Amen!
