God's Temple

“Don’t you know that you yourselves are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in your midst?” ~1 Corinthians 3:16

“Don’t you know that you yourselves are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in your midst?” ~1 Corinthians 3:16

Most days, I certainly don’t feel like a temple. An old wobbly hut, maybe, my hair looking like a thatched roof in a wind storm. My mirror often says, “go back to bed and start over”. But God tells us that we’re a royal palace, a holy place fit for the King of the universe. One the most important things, often overlooked, is that we’re in this together!

Collectively, we are all one, the body of Christ, where He is the head. In the brick-and-mortar analogy, He is the cornerstone - the stabilizing piece that keeps the building together. Check out these other verses, three written by the apostle Paul to various churches and the last by Peter.

Ephesians 2:22  “And in Christ you are being built together with His other people. You are being made into a place where God lives through the Spirit.”

1Corinthains 6:19  “Don't you know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and who was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourselves but to God.”

Romans 14:20  “Don't let the eating of food destroy the work of God. All food is right to eat, but it is wrong for anyone to eat something that hurts the faith of another person.”

1Peter 2:5  “You also are like living stones, and God is using you to build a spiritual house. You are to serve God in this house as holy priests, offering him spiritual sacrifices that he will accept because of Jesus Christ.”

If we have a single function, as a body or a building, all parts need to work together to avoid chaos and destruction. Do we do this? We can’t even work together in a small church family without conflict. BUT, we can make the effort to resist the devil, recognizing that he is the source of discord.

Father, bind us together in Your love. Let us work together with one goal in mind - to spread the good news of Jesus Christ. Let us experience, via the power of Your Holy Spirit, the inner ONENESS that You have, the never-ending peace and love. Thank you and Amen!

Have a blessed day!
