God is Not Human

“God is not human, that he should lie, not a human being, that he should change his mind. Does he speak and then not act? Does he promise and not fulfill?” ~Numbers 23:19

I think this is one of our greatest failings - that we assume God acts, reacts and responds like we humans do. Likewise, thankfulness that He does NOT should be numero uno on our list of gratitudes.

Just imagine if God decided to punish us all for ignoring Him. Or for worrying or for gossiping. We’d be in a world of hurt.

“God is the same yesterday, today and forever.” ~Hebrews 13:8

“We must hold on to God's promise that we have said we believed. And we must never let go. He has promised and He will do it.” ~Hebrews 10:23-25

“Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and His understanding no one can fathom.” ~Isaiah 40-28

“I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like me, declaring the end from the beginning and from ancient times things not yet done, saying, ‘My will shall stand, and I will accomplish all my purpose.’” ~Isaiah 46:9-10

When David displeased God, he was given a choice to be punished by his enemies or by God. David chose God because he knew that God was fair and perfect. And above all, merciful. [1 Chronicles 21:7-17]

Father, don’t let us put You in a human box. You are above and beyond anything, perfectly fair and merciful. We don't understand how Your judgment is mercy and love. But thank you!
