God So Loved - VALENTINE

Valentine's Day - the day of romantic gestures and sweet sentiments. A Hallmark holiday. But we get to celebrate the greatest love of all time every.single.day! The Love that left the glory of heaven to become flesh, surrounded by sin, trial and hardship, fought death and won. That Love laid down His life for the world who nailed Him to the Cross. That Love forgave those who betrayed, denied, and forsake Him.

There is nothing we can do to deserve or earn that love. It is a gift. Pure and unconditional. It cannot increase or decrease. It cannot be lost or retracted.

I am reminded of the praise song called "The Reckless Love of God":

Oh, the overwhelming, never-ending, reckless love of God
Oh, it chases me down, fights ’til I’m found, leaves the ninety-nine
And I couldn’t earn it, I don’t deserve it, still, You give Yourself away
