God's Got a Plan
1 Corinthians 2:9 But as the Scriptures say, "No one has ever seen, no one has ever heard, no one has ever imagined what God has prepared for those who love him."
I once heard a pastor say that this was a promise to the Old Testament believers regarding the future filling of the Holy Spirit. That WOULD be something that never entered their minds, for the Spirit of God was only upon certain prophets, judges and kings when they needed power to lead the Israelites, as well as others during times such as the building of the Tabernacle. But the ordinary Joe never felt that presence. Can you imagine getting through the day without Him?
Anyway, this promise is for all believers crossing the span of time! Think of your very BEST moment - our destiny is greater than that! Our happiness and peace beyond anything we can dream up. And not just for a moment or a day, but forever and ever and ever. And we won't be floating around on clouds playing harps - that imagery comes from the Middle Ages! (Why can't our culture get past those damaging ideas?) We will have things to do and see and create and the learn! Ah! Learning about the Lord forever!
One of my favorite stories from the New Testament is when Mary of Bethany was sitting at the feet of Jesus - I get shivers thinking about it. We will be able to do this freely and no one will get jealous!
Luke 10:39b "Mary sat down at the feet of the Lord and listened to his teaching"
When you're having a bad day, read this verse. Close your eyes and try to imagine what God has planned for you. You can't, but try!
Our happily-ever-after has nothing to do fairy tales, but everything to do with our Prince Charming - the Prince of Peace! The Creator of the universe! God Almighty! Our best friend.
Have a blessed day!
