Grace and Truth
“And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.” ~John 1:14
Ah, this verse gives me chills. It sounds so reverent and holy, like I should be on my knees. Check out this translation from the Mirror Bible: “Suddenly, the invisible, eternal Word takes on visible form - the Incarnation on display in a flesh and blood person as in a mirror! In Him, and now confirmed in us! The most accurate tangible display of God’s eternal thought finds expression in human life! The Word became a human being; we are his address; he resides in us! He captivates our gaze! The glory (that we lost in Adam) returns in fullness! Only grace can communicate truth in such complete context!” The study note says, “In him we discover that we are not here by chance or accident or by the desire of an earthly parent, neither are we the product of a mere physical conception; we exist by the expression of God’s desire to reveal himself in the flesh. His eternal invisible Word, his Spirit-thought, became flesh.
No other “world religion” involves God becoming man to save humanity. How loving and personal and intimate. I love how it says, “we are his address”. Now I am on my knees….
Have a blessed day!
