Grow in Grace
This comes from the writings of Peter - It was a closing to his 2nd letter. "But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity. Amen."
This tells me that we have some responsibility - God gives us the grace to learn - He wants us to continue to grow in knowledge about Jesus. When we love someone, we want to know all we can about them - that desire never stops.
God gave us two ways to uncover who Jesus is - thru His creation and thru His Word. The Psalmist wrote, "The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork. Day to day pours out speech, and night to night reveals knowledge." Romans 1:20 "God's eternal power and character cannot be seen. But from the beginning of creation, God has shown what these are like by all He has made. That's why those people don't have any excuse."
How blessed are we to have the written Word? To be able to study and research and discuss - the privilege is so easily taken for granted. There may come a day when we do not have that luxury, but no one can take what is in your soul. The more we learn about Jesus, the more we have hidden in our heart, the more we will be able to access when the need arises. Previous generations would memorize chapters at a time. I never thought I would see the day when I wished I would have done that.
Hebrews 4:12a " For the word of God is living and full of power, and is sharper than any two-edged sword," Being alive means that is applicable today - this very moment. It's not some dusty old volume used to store your family tree. God will bring to mind what you need when you need it! Thank you, Lord!
Have a blessed day!
