“He refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for His name's sake.” ~Psalm 23:3
The 23rd Psalm is the most well-known and beloved of the Psalms. I can still hear my Grandmother reciting this during trying times. It brought her comfort and calmed her; one such occasion was when my Mom lost her life. My family was devastated, but Grandma held her composure - I still marvel at her strength, knowing that she was hurting so, for she had once told me, “A parent should never have to outlive their child.” And she experienced this twice - once from a car accident and my Mom to cancer.
Scripture saved her from falling apart. God’s Word helped her to stay focused on her remaining family, to help me take charge and do what had to be done. God truly refreshed our souls and continues to guide us as we journey through life. The pathways are hard, but they are right, for they all lead to Him. Our lives are BECAUSE of Him. I pray that we live FOR Him.

The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.
He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters.
He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for His name's sake.
Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the LORD forever.
