Hearing By the Word of God
“Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” ~Romans 10:17
Everyone learns differently - you can be a visual learner, or someone that learns best by listening. Or with a hands-on experience. Or a combination.
I like to listen, read and write it down. They say, “Repetition is an excellent teacher.“ I can still visualize my notes from some of college classes where I used color and drawings to emphasize what was important.
Have you ever noticed that the hymns/worship songs usually tie into the sermon message? Some churches provide a sermon outline for folks to take notes. It helps reach everyone by using different learning styles.
Our faith can increase or decrease daily - it makes sense that the more we are exposed to the word of God, the better. The Bible tells us that Jesus is the Word. We need HIM. The more we are around Jesus, the more we will be like Him. Just like spouses who end up talking or even looking alike. Or when you hang around with someone with an accent, you almost always start to immitate them. I’ve listened to many recordings by English theologian N.T.Wright and there was a time when I started dreaming with a British accent!
