Hope and a Future
"I know the plans I have for you", declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Jeremiah 29:11
This is such a great verse for someone who is moving onto the next phase of their life, whether graduation, marriage, a new job, etc. There is such hope in this verse. God wants ALL of us to prosper! John opened his third letter with this wish, "Beloved, concerning all things I pray you to prosper and to be healthy, just as your soul prospers."
There is alot of negativity about "the prosperity gospel". This is different! This is God helping us thrive in life in all the ways - a prosperous soul is to be desired above all else. Or our health can prosper. Being prosperous in God's eyes is not having a fat bank account, it is being happy and content and loving and kind, spilling over with the fruit of the Spirit.
If God does bless you financially, it is certainly so you can bless others! Read Luke 12:13-21 to see His thoughts on selfish gain. Verse 21 ends the parable this way: "This is what happens to people who store up everything for themselves, but are poor in the sight of God."
Generosity is a spiritual gift from God - isn't that awesome? We aren't naturally generous - God gives the means and motivation! Listen for His voice and your future will be bright!
Have a blessed day!
