"I am going the way of all the earth: so be strong and be a man;" ~1 Kings 2:1-3

“Now the time of David's death came near; and he gave orders to Solomon his son, saying, I am going the way of all the earth: so be strong and be a man; And keep the orders of the Lord your God, walking in His ways, keeping His laws and His orders and His rules and His words, as they are recorded in the law of Moses; so that you may do well in all you do and wherever you go.” ~1 Kings 2:1-3

David started and ended strong. Yes, he wavered here and there - what am I saying? He was TERRIBLE at some points in his life. A horrible human, husband, father and friend.

Even though his parenting skills were greatly lacking, the spiritual guidance that he gave his son, Solomon, was solid. “Keep focused on the Lord and you will be blessed in all your ways”.

Perhaps that is what directed Solomon to write these words in Proverbs 3:5-6: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart. Do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways, acknowledge Him and He will direct your paths.”

David’s life was riddled with sinful behavior. But God loved him. That should tell us something. There is NOTHING. NO THING that we can do that can separate us from the love of God [Romans 8:39]. He demonstrates this over and over again throughout scripture. Biblical greats like David and Moses had committed murder, yet so beloved by God and listed in the Hall of Faith Fame in Hebrews 11.

Another bucket list item…I want my name in that Hall of Fame, kept in heaven. I like to think God has one of those.
