I Can Do All This Through Him Who Gives Me Strength

“I can do all things through Christ, Who strengthens me.” ~Philippians 4:13

This is probably one of the most popular Bible verses, after John 3:16. It is often seen on pendants circling the necks of famous athletes and Olympians. I’ve found it on book covers, bumper stickers, tattoos and T-shirts. It’s no wonder - it’s a great life verse.

It’s 100% true, but how many of us actually live like we know that? We try. But doubt creeps in, regardless of how confident we are. Life is hard. Certain obstacles seem insurmountable. Situations seem set in uncompromising stone. But we CAN get through these times with Jesus - just like He was there in the fiery furnace with Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego [Daniel 3]. He doesn’t always remove the challenge, but He is ALWAYS there with you.

I love the words of this children’s worship song, based on this verse from Philippians - it keeps this promise in the forefront of my mind. I need that reminder!

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me

The news can make you feel weary
The night can look a little eerie
and all the stress can make you teary
‘til it seems you don’t know what to do
When it looks like you are sinking
why not try to change your thinking
you’ll soon find your troubles shrinking
