“I the Lord do not change. So you, the descendants of Jacob, are not destroyed.” ~Malachi 3:6

“I the Lord do not change. So you, the descendants of Jacob, are not destroyed.” ~Malachi 3:6
Those first six words are among the most comforting in the whole Bible. “I the Lord do not change”. What would it be like to have a willy nilly god where your life circumstances were at his whim? He’s having a bad day, so you suffer. A good day for god, you might receive a blessing or two. Other world religions are like this - Greek mythology is loaded with stories of angry Zeus hurling lightning bolts at mere mortals who made him mad.
But not the One True Living God! He is constant and does not change. James tells us in 1:17, “Every generous act of giving and every perfect gift is from above and comes down from the Father who made the heavenly lights, in whom there is no inconsistency or shifting shadow.”
“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.” ~Hebrews 13:8
"My God, whose years continue through all generations, do not take me in the middle of my life. You established the earth long ago; the heavens are the work of Your hands. They will perish, but You will remain; and they all will become worn out, like a garment. You will change them like clothing, and they will pass away. But You remain the same; Your years never end.” ~Psalm 102:24-27
Every promise of God comes with a 100% guarantee, no questions asked. In a day of unending upheaval, we need that rock-solid foundation. No matter what happens around us, we can rest, assured in the faithfulness of our God.
