I Wait for the Lord
"I wait for the Lord; my whole being waits and in His word, I put my hope" Psalm 130:5
'My whole being waits' - sigh. Can we ever say that? Even if my body is still, my mind is racing-- planning, worrying, rearranging, scheduling. We have programmed ourselves to be multi-taskers. We reason that we've had to, based on society norms. But do we really? Are we too afraid of failing? Or not being good enough? We are only as busy as we make ourselves be - it is our choice.
This Psalm is about waiting for Messiah, who wouldn't come for over 1000 years! But David believed God's word, trusted His promises - he didn't know that Jesus would be called the Word of God, and yet the Holy Spirit motivated him to write, "I put my hope in His word".
'In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God...And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.' ~John 1:1,14
The word, 'hope', is strong enough to support your whole being - it comes hand-in-hand with confidence and assurance and a guarantee. Imagine if you were given a guarantee of pulling the winning megamillions lottery ticket. A sure thing. THAT is what hope is.
The Messiah HAS come and He is coming again to put things right! Rest your whole being in that hope!
Have a blessed day!
Bev
