I will Give Them a Heart to Know Me, That I Am The LORD
“I will give them a heart to know me, that I am the LORD. They will be my people, and I will be their God, for they will return to me with all their heart.” ~Jeremiah 24:7
This was during a time when the nations of Israel and Judah had rejected God. He warned them over and over and over again, but they ignored Him. The punishment, like the crime, was not just individual but happened at a national level. Those who loved the Lord, like Daniel, had to suffer as well. But God gave them strength and peace, the ability to rise above, even to become leaders in a foreign land. Daniel became 2nd in command of the Babylonian Empire!
When the original scriptures were written, there were no chapter and verse designations; these were added later. But check out this one - 24:7. I do not believe this is a happy coincidence. Why wouldn’t God have this all planned?
God is 24/7 for us as well as for when this was written, almost 3000 years ago. He GIVES us a heart to love Him. It’s HIS love that He gives us - His Spirit pours love into our hearts [Romans 5:5]. We can only love because of Him. “We love because God first loved us.” ~1 John 4:19
I pray that our nation will return to Him. That His love will overtake the darkness that threatens. I pray that I would be a Daniel, knowing with all my heart that God is there 24/7 and is stronger than any evil that surrounds us. That even in adverse conditions, God would increase my faith and use me to advance His Kingdom of righteousness, peace and joy
“For the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.” ~Romans 14:17
Have a blessed day!
