"I will not forsake them.” ~Isaiah 42:16

“I will lead the blind by ways they have not known, along unfamiliar paths I will guide them; I will turn the darkness into light before them and make the rough places smooth. These are the things I will do; I will not forsake them.” ~Isaiah 42:16
I was about to write about how God has a plan for His people and how we are included in that plan, but as I recognized familiar themes like ‘darkness into light’, ‘smooth pathways’, and ‘I will not forsake them', something lit up.
Here we have one of the strongest proofs that the Bible is authentic. Not only does the authorship include dozens that span centuries in the writing, there were no copies of writings that were passed down from generation to generation that could be referenced. There were no public libraries or internet. Everything we now can read as a complete volume was inspired by God, penned with the personality of the writer, specifically directed to a certain audience. And yet, it all ties together and is relevant today.
It is God’s love letter to us, grace written on our hearts of flesh, replacing the stony one representing the law. Jesus brought that letter in the flesh. He IS that love letter. It can never be a ‘Dear John’ letter for He assures us over and over, “I will never forsake you”. The Almighty God of the universe will NEVER leave us. May that echo in your thoughts, ever-present, always-comforting.
“It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you; He will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.” ~Deuteronomy 31:8 written over 3500 years ago
“I will not leave you or forsake you.” ~Joshua 1:5 written around 3500 years ago
“Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for He has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” ~Hebrews 13:5 relatively recently, in 69-70 A.D.
