I Will See You Again

Image of a cardinal on a branch with the words "Now is your time of grief, but I will see you again and you will rejoice, and no one will take away your joy. John 16:22"
"Therefore you now have sorrow, but I will see you again, and your heart will rejoice, and your joy, no one will take from you.: ~John 16:22

Jesus spoke these words to His closest friends during what we call, the Last Supper". They had no idea what was in store: Jesus even said, "you haven't a clue what I'm talking about now, but you will. All these things will come rushing back to you when the time comes."

My sister-in-law and I both lost our mums, hers suddenly and mine after a bout with cancer. We talked about which was harder - knowing or not. There is no right answer. Even though I knew my Mom's time would be shortened, there was still hope that it would be longer then they thought. We put off discussing "hard" things and then she was gone. As I read this verse, I thought about that time. I realized that joy is a God-thing. Even with intense sadness, paralyzing grief - the kind that nails you to the floor with wrenching sobs, some entity within stirs with life, lets you see color again. Hope begins to rise and pulls you to your feet. Joy in a new day, knowing that God is with you every step of the way.

Without Him, joy is fake, fleeting emotion. Only true joy can be found in Him. It is free and it is forever! Let our hearts rejoice together!

"Let earth receive our King!"
Have a blessed day!
