If Any of You Lacks Wisdom, You Should Ask God
“If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.” ~James 1:5
God has a sense of humor - it’s evident here in the phrase “without finding fault”. That’s funny, right? Here’s a couple other translations:
…let him ask of God, who gives to all without hesitation and without reproach;
…let him make his request to God, who gives freely to all without an unkind word,
So in other words, you can ask for wisdom even when you’re being a putz; God is not going to withhold that from you. He says, “Yes!” It reminds me of my daughter with her kiddos. Every once in awhile she will have a yes-day. They can ask to do anything (within reason) and she says yes. They almost always ask for good things and she is happy to make them happy.
Isn’t God just like this? Wisdom is ALWAYS good. No wonder God wants to give it abundantly and generously! (He’s probably saying, “finally!” haha!). Jesus IS Wisdom and we have 24/7 access.
“Christ is the power of God, and the wisdom of God….But God has brought you into union with Christ Jesus, and God has made Christ to be our wisdom. By Him we are put right with God; we become God's holy people and are set free.” ~1Corinthians 1:24, 30
Have a blessed day!
