Joyful Noise

The faithful are called to give thanks to God for everything - and not only to be thankful but to rejoice: “Let us come into His presence with thanksgiving; let us make a joyful noise to Him with songs of praise!” ~Psalm 95:2

Honestly, every Psalm about rejoicing in the Lord never fails to put that joy into my heart. But the key is to read them! That’s hard to do when we’re going through stuff. Reading God’s word is often the last thing on our minds as we struggle to fix and manipulate and worry about our circumstances.

And to be thankful? That seems an impossibility. BUT, that is where faith comes in. We know that God has a perfect plan. He is outside of time and sees the whole picture all at once. We only see a snapshot. He knows what is best for us, even though we may disagree!

Trials strengthen us, build character and matures our faith. We have the Holy Spirit as an ever-present companion Who takes our jumbled thoughts and groanings and crushed spirit and turns them into prayers that are immediately in the presence of God. Oh, if we could see the invisible spiritual realm! We would see ourselves surrounded by angels and loved ones and the love of God enveloping all. Heaven isn’t way up there….it surrounds us.

“Oh come, let us sing to the LORD; let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation!”
