“Let the king be enthralled by your beauty; honor him, for he is your lord.” ~Psalm 45:11

“Let the king be enthralled by your beauty; honor him, for he is your lord.” ~Psalm 45:11

Even though this Psalm was written to honor the marriage celebration of King Solomon to an Egyptian princess, it is ultimately referencing Jesus Christ and His bride. It’s like a mini-Song-of-Solomon.

We CAN.NOT. fathom how great His love is for us. The Bible gives us hints in the relationship of parent to child, sibling to sibling, spouse to spouse. But do we get it? Can we?

We’re utterly despicable at times. I know I can’t get through the day (or hour) without that ‘old man’ popping up.

God tells us differently. We are beautiful inside and out. We are without flaw. We are the apple of His eye. We are His beloved. Not because of anything we’ve done - it’s ALL because of Jesus.

It reminds me of the chorus from Casting Crown’s 'Who Am I':

Not because of who I am
But because of what You've done
Not because of what I've done
But because of who You are

Read the entirety of Psalm 45 - no wonder the Psalmist gushes with love, admiration and praise. He pulls you in with an overflowing heart!

“But of the Son He says, “Your throne, O God, is forever and ever, the scepter of uprightness is the scepter of Your kingdom.” ~Hebrews 1:8 quotes Psalm 45:6
