Let the Little Children Come to Me
"Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these" Matthew 19:14
This same event is told in Luke 18. The very next verse says, "Amen, I tell you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.”. The Kingdom of God is here now, in the hearts of every believer. Paul tells us in Rom 14:17 "For the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit."
One of my favorite episodes of The Chosen series is in season 1, where Jesus has attracted a number of children at his campsite. One boy is afraid at first, but Jesus commends his bravery - it took me to the story of Gideon, where the Angel of the Lord calls him Might Warrior. Jesus see who we are meant to be, not the persona that we wear as a earth suit.
More and more children arrive and Jesus sits and teaches them - He uses the parables we read about in the gospels. I love that! Children are not jaded by the world - not yet cynical from situations that adults find themselves in. They see joy in the simplest of things. They all believe Him and are eager to learn. Jesus assures them that we will learn forever. (isn't that exciting?!)
This attitude is how we can experience the Kingdom of God now in this life. It's here for the taking! Through the Holy Spirit! Access your inner child and thrive in the Kingdom of God!
