“Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.” ~Colossians 3:15

“Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.” ~Colossians 3:15

A dear member of our family is struggling physically and mentally, requiring daily care. We notice that a different part of their body hurts every day. It is all they talk about, repeatedly, over and over. There is no peace in that body that was once full of health and vigor.

This is a reminder of what the community of believers is like - we are one body, the body of Jesus Christ. In Ephesians 4:3, Paul encourages believers to make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. This verse underscores the importance of maintaining peace and unity among members of the church. If there is no peace, the body is broken.

It starts with internal peace - “the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”~Philippians 4:7 We can’t be in harmony with others if we have inner turmoil. Just imagine...one day, one GLORIOUS day, every person will have peace within AND without. It’s unthinkable, but God promises that future state. What a day that will be! A forever, eternal day!
