Lord, You Understand, Remember Me, and Care for Me
"Lord, you understand: remember me and care for me" ~ Jeremiah 15:15
Isn't it comforting to have a friend who understands you - someone with whom you can be 100% yourself - "warts and all". We are created as social creatures, needing fellowship and companionship - solitary confinement is severe punishment - the Amish practice of shunning, equally harsh. We need each other. But what if we feel alone? Sometimes, the loneliest place is in a crowd.
Jeremiah said these words as God was describing what would befall His people if they did not turn back to Him. He knew that no matter what was ahead, God would not leave him. If you know Jesus, you will never ever be alone. His faith, hope and love sustain us through any and all trials. His words can install a supernatural peace in your heart - something that goes beyond any explanation.
This might sound a bit crazy, but if I feel alone, I ask Jesus for a hug. He ALWAYS answers - I suddenly feel warm and secure and able to endure whatever I'm going through. He is a friend who never leaves.
Can we find a friend so faithful
Who will all our sorrows share?
Jesus knows our every weakness
Take it to the Lord in prayer
Are we weak and heavy-laden
Cumbered with a load of care?
Precious Savior, still our refuge
Take it to the Lord in prayer
~from the hymn, 'What a Friend We Have in Jesus'
Have a blessed day!
