Make Known His Deeds

1 Chronicles 16:8 "Oh give thanks to the Lord. Call upon His name; make known His deeds among the peoples"
David is crowned king of Israel and the first thing he did was to re-establish a relationship with the Lord. The Ark of the Covenant had been captured by the Philistines during the reign of Saul and it was time to bring it back to Jerusalem. The ark was the place that the presence of God rested.
David called together a great assembly from all the tribes and said, "If it seems good to you and if it is the will of the LORD our God, let us send word far and wide to the rest of our brothers throughout the territories of Israel, and also to the priests and Levites who are with them in their towns and pasturelands, to come and join us. Let us bring the ark of our God back to us, for we did not inquire of it during the reign of Saul." (1 Chronicles 13:2-3)
That's exactly what they did and what a party they had! Dancing and music and singing and praising God! This verse in 16:8 is part of the song David composed, probably on the spot - he was so filled with the spirit that he had little care for what anyone else thought!
Do you get excited when you have good news to share? There have been many times that I have been busting at the seams to let something out that I was asked to keep a secret. I was even smiling so much that people start asking what was going on! And then I was finally allowed to share my news and it all just came out! The whole story! I was so excited that I just wanted to let everyone know about it. In my case, I’m talking about both times that my daughter’s told us they were pregnant and asked us to wait a month or so to tell others. I was sooo excited that I couldn’t wait to tell everyone! I’m sure you’ve had instances just like that, where something so exciting has happened that you can’t wait to tell people. Maybe a new car, job, house, or whatever, but you are definitely excited.
Wouldn’t it be awesome if got that excited over the things that God has done for us? What kind of Good News has God brought into your life? Has He made situations turn around in your life, or given you food to eat or a place to stay when things looked bleak?
The next time something really good happens in your life, how about we praise God for it? Tell everyone what God has done in your life, maybe even dance and sing a little!
