“My goal is that they may be encouraged in heart and united in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding, in order that they may know the mystery of God, namely, Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.” ~Colossians 2:2-3

Mysteries…they capture our attention, fueling the desire to know. I’m of the age where that particular word stirs up memories of devouring Nancy Drew books under the covers with a flashlight - not because I wasn’t allowed to read in bed, but because it added to the drama. The stories became so real to me that I remembering praying for one of the characters at dinner one night. “Who is Mr. Bailey?”

I want that same intensity to know the mystery of God. Paul tells us that Jesus Christ is that mystery and in Him is hidden (more mystery) ALL wisdom and knowledge. Look at the words used to describe this - riches and treasure, bound together by love. All the things that humanity craves.

The source is RIGHT THERE! We don’t need to go looking elsewhere. And best of all, Jesus makes Himself discoverable and knowable - to every personality type, every level of IQ, every state of mental capacity. It doesn’t matter what you’ve done or been in the past. That is history and He loves you. Period. He LOVES YOU!

“But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. No one has greater love than this, that one should lay down his life for his friends.” ~Romans 5:8; John 15:13

Jesus did that. For you and for me. What a wondrous mystery we have to unfold! For eternity!
