My Whole Being Longs for You

"You, God, are my God, earnestly I seek you; I thirst for you, my whole being longs for you, in a dry and parched land where there is no water." Psalm 63:1

I've heard it said that everyone has a Jesus-shaped hole in their heart that only He can fill.  Oh, people will try to fill this hole with all manner of things - some good and some bad, but only Jesus can bring that supernatural peace that transcends all understanding.

There are some beautiful psalms that depict this longing so poetically.  You can actually FEEL the ache of the writer's soul.   Do WE crave the presence of God like these psalmists?   When we do, God is RIGHT there!   Isaiah writes that God anxiously waits to be gracious to us.  I picture God with his arms folded, tapping his toe and thinking, "if they would just ask...".

"O God, you are my God, earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you, my body longs for you, in a dry and weary land where there is no water. I have seen you in the sanctuary and beheld your power and your glory. Because your love is better than life, my lips will glorify you."  Psalm 63:1

"As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, my God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God."  Psalm 42:1-2a

"My soul faints with longing for your salvation, but I have put my hope in your word." Psalm 119:81

Father, let us long for you - make us want to be saturated with Your very Being.  Only You can satisfy our souls and bring us peace within.   Amen

Have a blessed day!
