“Not one of all the Lord ’s good promises to Israel failed; every one was fulfilled.” ~Joshua 21:45

“Not one of all the Lord ’s good promises to Israel failed; every one was fulfilled.” ~Joshua 21:45
This chapter seems long and tedious - it lists all the lands given to each of the tribes of Israel. But it ends with this verse full of promise and hope.
Israel was the prelude of humanity as a whole - fancy word ‘prolepsis’ fits here - the representation of a thing as existing before it actually does. If you follow Israel’s journey thru the Old Testament, this becomes clearer. Their exodus from Egypt represents our liberation from bondage to sin. The promised land is our life in Christ forevermore. All the struggles and obstacles represent our war against the evil one.
God’s promises to Israel were fulfilled - all of them. That means that we can also take them to the bank! “I will never leave you or forsake you” [Hebrews 13:5b] “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” [Matthew 11:28] “ But I tell you that I am going to do what is best for you. That is why I am going away. The Holy Spirit cannot come to help you until I leave. But after I am gone, I will send the Spirit to you.”[John 16:7]
Best of all is Revelation 22:20: “Jesus is the one who says that all of this is true. Now He says, "Yes, I am coming soon." Amen! Come, Lord Jesus!”
Doesn’t that ramp up the anticipation?!
